Do you love dark cinema like we do?

GET TO KNOW US
Let me introduce myself. I'm Gary J. Svehla, and as a kid, I started a fanzine, Gore Creatures, in the summer of 1963 when I was only 13 years old. Hey, for a kid, the title sounded pretty cool! However, by issue 26, when I was a public school English teacher (and remained so for 40 years), I changed the magazine's name to Midnight Marquee, which I continued to edit and publish until I recently sold the business to Bear Manor Media. Google the title on Amazon. Oh, we have also been publishing genre books on film since 1995. We have published about 170 titles. After selling the business, why start something new, such as this online magazine? It keeps me occupied and provides a creative outlet. Plus, I can join the community of fellow movie fans who love dark cinema in all forms.
Although most of the films discussed are in glorious black and white, we occasionally venture into color movies, so we don't want to feel creatively confined.
And remember, it is all free! We will post a 'DONATE' button for those who appreciate the fact that there is an expense associated with these things, but the website will remain totally free to enjoy. We will have no articles behind paywalls, either.
If you avidly enjoy viewing and critiquing movies as much as I do and sharing insights, you have come to the right place.
We will update the site every Monday with at least ONE new article, a classic horror/science fiction film, OR a film noir/dark cinema film. I plan to expand my knowledge and expertise by transitioning from Midnight Marquee to online digital publishing with Shudders and Shadows. Come along on the journey. Enjoy! Contribute an article or comment on one already published.
